Installation of a clean room MPI Biochemistry

The laboratory floors in the building section D of the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Martinsried were almost completely dismantled, restructured for two new scientific departments as well as renovated in terms of energy efficiency and fire protection.

In the course of these measures, a class 10,000 clean room was installed on the first floor. The clean room is only accessible via a sit-over bench and an adjoining staff and materials door lock; it is a laboratory with a safety cabinet and connection to a separate ventilation system. The clean room has two workstations with laminar flow benches. The related technical installations were mounted in the rooftop plant room above the clean room.

Most of the restructuring, conversion and renovation works were performed while the adjoining laboratory buildings remained fully operational.
